I was reading this morning about one of the counties in my State passing a resolution stating they are not a Sanctuary County. The article stated the reason for this is because they did not want to be on, or rather be removed from the DHS List of Sanctuary Counties in the country. Which got me looking for the list of DHS Listed Sanctuary Counties. Then I came upon this one page memo :
this is the setup:
DHS in charge of National Security just setup these sanctuary jurisdictions, I bet they are giving them 90 days. then indicting them. We’ll see, but one can hope
From the memo:“These sanctuary city politicians are endangering Americans and our law enforcement in order to protect violent criminal illegal aliens,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. “We are exposing these sanctuary politicians who harbor criminal illegal aliens and defy federal law. President Trump and I will always put the safety of the American people first. Sanctuary politicians are on notice: comply with federal law.”
Each jurisdiction listed will receive formal notification of its non-compliance and all potential violations of federal criminal statutes. DHS demands that these jurisdictions immediately review and revise their policies to align with federal immigration laws and renew their obligation to protect American citizens, not dangerous illegal aliens.
its the second paragraph that is the important one. DHS has already informed them of the statutes they are breaking. SOP is 90 days to comply. Issued on May 29th, that would give them till Aug 29th to become in compliance. It will be interesting to see what, if anything comes from this, and if we see the rhetoric heat up between now and then. I’m betting we do and that we see more counties/cities on the west coast state their defiance of the federal laws. What do you think about this memo? Do you think something will actually come of it?
