Back in September 2019, I published two reports warning that America was a powder keg waiting on a trigger event, which would likely occur by mid-2020.
That trigger event came in May 2020, which ignited over 100 days and nights of rioting across the country.
It wasn’t a loose cannon prediction. It was based on the conflict indicators I follow, which were “flashing red” at the time.
Fast forward to 2025:
I track 21 major indicators — from activist chatter on social media and nationwide organizing efforts, to funding pipelines being rebuilt and logistics being realigned — all pointing to 2026 being most consequential year for domestic unrest and political violence since 2020.
Over the past few months, here’s some of what I’ve seen:
– Yesterday, The Atlantic reported that top Trump officials and their families have been moved to military bases due to ongoing and continued physical threats.
– The country’s largest protest organizing group warned activists they’ll be asked to “escalate in the coming months.” (Escalate to what? I’ll cover that below.)
– Activists are being encouraged to “experiment” with new, disruptive tactics to use against the Trump administration.
– One national resistance strategist said their goal was to “get [Americans] socialized to these new and disruptive tactics”, so they become normal and routine. She continued, saying that these tactics would need to be used “at scale, en masse” to fight the Trump administration.
– The burgeoning Color Revolution movement chose yellow as its unity color. And they’re using the same exact playbook that was used in the original, successful Color Revolution in Serbia in 2000.
Escalating to what?
In this month’s members-only Color Revolution briefing, I pointed out that this movement is on the cusp of escalating from Phase 1 (Symbolic Protest) to Phase 2 (Organized Resistance).
Remember, protests express displeasure of certain policies, but do virtually nothing to oppose them.
Resistance is active defiance and obstruction in a direct attempt to stop those policies.
The low-level resistance we’ve been seeing is about to ramp up in a big way.
