INDIA ON ALERT; CHINA BUILDING SECOND BRIDGE ACROSS PANGONG LAKE: Indian officials said they were monitoring China’s activities after reports that China was building a second bridge across Pangong lake in disputed eastern Ladakh. The Ministry of External Affairs said they discovered the activity, which is taking place approximately 20 km from the Line of Actual Control, and suspect the bridge is being constructed to facilitate the movement of tanks and armored vehicles closer to the Indian border. – M.M.
CISA ISSUES EMERGENCY DIRECTIVE TO FED AGENCIES: The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued an emergency directive to all Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) agencies to patch VMWare vulnerabilities. CISA warns that threat actors, including known state-backed active persistent threats, “were able to reverse engineer the update and begin exploitation of impacted VMware products’ since at least 6 April. The breach permits attackers to “trigger a server-side template injection that may result in remote code execution; escalate privileges to ‘root’; and obtain administrative access without the need to authenticate. – D.M.
CNN POLL: 8 IN 10 AMERICANS THINK COUNTRY ON WRONG TRACK: In a recently released CNN poll, only 2 in 10 Americans think the country, under the Biden administration, is on the right track. The poll of 1000 U.S. citizens showed that 21% of respondents were scared and 65% concerned about the direction of the country, with only 10% optimistic and 4% excited about it. The economy continued to be the most important issue for Americans. 59% of respondents said they were most concerned about the economy as opposed to 30% who identified social justice issues as the most important issue. – M.M.
