Global SITREP for Friday, 25 October 2024

Good morning, and welcome to the Global Situation Report for Friday, 25 October 2024.

  • Global Rollup
    • Ukrainian intelligence reported on Thursday that North Korean troops are in the Kursk “combat zone” as of Wednesday. South Korea is sending a delegation from its National Intelligence Service to NATO next week to discuss further North Korean troop movement.
    • The Space Force announced that their latest ground-based satellite jamming systems will be operational between January and March of next year. (The weapon is intended to jam or deceive Russian and Chinese satellites observing the United States, adding electronic warfare into the homeland nuclear defense strategies we have talked about for the past week. – J.V.)
    • China’s Ministry of Agriculture announced that China is expected to produce 700 million tonnes of grain for the first time this year. The Ministry further noted that this will provide a bumper harvest. (As a net food importer, China’s increased grain production and bumper crop is a step toward mitigating food vulnerability that threatens their ability to wage war and bolsters a pillar of Chinese governance. – J.V.)
    • The Georgian parliamentary election is scheduled for Saturday. Activists have protested against the ruling government, while the government raided Western-backed media outlets over the past week. (Georgia is a hotspot for NGO activity as it sits right on Russia’s southern border, carries two territorial disputes, has considered EU membership, and even runs Western weapons for its armed forces. In the last 18 months, it has taken a severe Eastward shift. The election will likely determine the path for Georgia. – J.V.)
    • U.S. State Department issues warning over Gaza ‘Rage’ protests planned for Friday at Israeli and U.S. embassies. Hamas has called for a “Friday of Rage for Gaza,” prompting the State Department to issue a “worldwide caution” travel alert and warn U.S. citizens to avoid demonstrations. The protests follow an announcement that the United States and Israel will resume ceasefire negotiations.

THAT’S A WRAP: This does it for today’s edition. Thank you for reading. If you know folks who would also like to receive this email, would you please forward it to them? We appreciate you spreading the word. – M.S.
