Global SITREP for Tuesday, 06 August 2024

Good morning, and welcome to the Global Situation Report for Tuesday, 06 August 2024.

  • Global Rollup
    • Australia, India, Nigeria, Malaysia, and Indonesia have issued travel warnings for the United Kingdom in response to the ongoing riots.
    • Russia deployed a surface action group composed of a destroyer, amphibious landing ship, recovery tug, and fuel tanker to the Arctic yesterday. Previous iterations of this deployment were focused on securing Arctic Maritime Trade routes and Russian-owned islands. (The Russian Navy claims this is the 13th iteration of this deployment, but only the 2023 and 2024 iterations appear to be Arctic-focused. – J.V.)
    • The Mexican Foreign Ministry urged its citizens in the Middle East to leave the region yesterday and suspend any travel plans to the entire region.
    • Israel’s Defense Force is sending additional troops to the West Bank to prevent any infiltration or “possible ground assault.” Meanwhile, Jordan’s Foreign Minister informed Iran that Iran will not be permitted to use Jordanian territory or airspace for a response to Israel.
    • Rolls-Royce, the primary contractor for the U.K.’s nuclear submarines, accidentally outsourced its company intranet development to a Belarusian subcontractor working in Russia. Rolls-Royce insists that no classified material was accessed. (Rolls-Royce was helping develop the AUKUS Submarine for the U.K. and Australia at the time. Personnel involved in the AUKUS Sub development can potentially be targeted for their knowledge. – J.V.)

THAT’S A WRAP: This does it for today’s edition. Thank you for reading. If you know folks who would also like to receive this email, would you please forward it to them? We appreciate you spreading the word. – M.S.
