DHS, CISA preparing for 2020-style riots

Good morning, y’all. Mike here from Forward Observer, and here’s what’s on my radar this morning…

Last week, we reported to members of our Early Warning Network that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are preparing for 2020-style civil unrest.

According to a recent training event, officials believe that civil disturbances — such as protests, riots, sit-ins, and other civil unrest — present a “very high” threat to federal facilities in 2024.

The source who attended this training said that the security focus was primarily on conservatives and Trump supporters facing a 2024 election defeat. (According to the source, instructors implied that a Democratic presidential victory would spur anti-government protests and political violence.)

Protests at federal facilities were routine during the Trump administration.  In January 2017, for instance, left wing activists attempted to disrupt the Trump inauguration. (Over 200 activists were arrested and charged, although all charges were later dropped.)

In addition to the nationwide protests, left wing activists in 2019 gained illegal entry to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters facility in Washington, D.C.

Also in 2019, an antifa militant was accused of attempting to shoot a propane tank to cause an explosion at a detention center for illegal immigrants near Tacoma, Washington. The militant was later engaged and killed in a police-involved shooting.

There are many other instances of civil disturbances at federal facilities over the past eight years. And, of course, the J6 protest is the highest profile example of civil disturbance at a government facility.

According to the source, DHS and CISA are preparing for more and possibly worse civil disturbances in 2024.

In 2024, access to timely, relevant, and actionable intelligence will be more crucial than ever

That’s why we keep members of the Early Warning Network informed on what’s happening beyond the headlines and beneath the surface of our ongoing low intensity conflict.

Forward Observer’s Early Warning team of intelligence and special operations veterans excels in navigating complex environments.

Start your day with our Early Warning intel brief and learn about upcoming threats and disruptions. We care about our country and what’s happening to it, and we produce this brief for others who also care about our future.

The Early Warning team has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other contingencies, including the 2020 Summer of Love. We produced thousands of intel reports during the 2020-2021 riots, keeping our members ahead of dangerous events before they happened.

And we’ll be doing it again in 2024.

Put us on your team with an Early Warning Network membership.

Until next time, be well and stay out front.

Always Out Front,

Mike Shelby
