Good morning. Here’s your Early Warning for Thursday, 26 October.
Overnight, Ukraine experienced another round of cyber attacks that this time shut down computers at an airport, Kiev’s subway system, and some independent Russian media outlets. Ukraine has been the target of numerous cyber attacks, including one that affected its power grid in December of 2015. We know that the U.S. is vulnerable to these types of attacks, and we still believe it’s possible that the U.S. will experience attacks like these if a war should break out with a near-peer competitor.
Meanwhile, Alt-Right and Alt-Left groups are mobilizing for this Saturday’s White Lives Matter rallies in Shelbyville and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Several Antifa affiliates are preparing to attend, including from nearby Nashville. Earlier this month, Nashville Antifa took to Twitter and wrote, “The circus starts at 11am. Bring means to defend yourself. Let’s crack some Nazi skulls!” Typically, a large and active police presence prevents wide scale violence. One reason these events are being held in the heart of Tennessee is because organizers believe that these communities will be more sympathetic to the message of White Lives Matter, and that the rule of law will be upheld, as opposed to what happened in Charlottesville.
